Various grants are available in Austria for refurbishing property, from both the federal government and the provinces. They are intended to make investment in energy efficiency easier, for instance in insulation, replacing windows or a new heating system. We deliberately give no specific amounts here, because the levels and conditions change regularly and must be checked as they stand.

Switching to more efficient or renewable heating systems is another typical area for support. Here too, different conditions apply depending on the programme.
What to look out for
Grants generally have to be applied for before the work begins, and applications are tied to conditions and deadlines. Anyone who is too late loses the entitlement.
